Water Treating

Proven chemicals to help
in the field

Flatirons Field Services, LLC (FFS) has partnered with Truox to formulate an extensive line of highly affective chemicals for most all applications. FFS has identified the demand for products with the ability to treat, disperse, separate, and remove any unwanted hydrocarbons and deposits in the flow lines and water piping. Starting with lab testing, FFS and Truox take all precautions and measures to ensure positive test results.

FFS and Truox has the technology and ability to offer a wide array of products that are usable in all weather conditions, applications, and scenarios.

About Our Water Treating

Mobile Frac Water Treatment
FFS has developed a turnkey mobile unit that applies a number of select treatments to the water used in the completions process. This patented unit has been developed to treat, verify treatment, and log the effectiveness of the treatment to ensure the water quality specifications are met. Our PetroChlor biocide product, paired with this automated unit, achieves a 5-log bacteria kill in a matter of seconds. This technology ensures that no bacteria is being introduced to your well or formation.
Raw/Produced Water Treatment
FFS has the superior products and services to achieve the treatments necessary to recycle and reuse our natural resources, reducing the economic and environmental impact of our crucial process of recovering hydrocarbons.
Water Desalination Well Treatment
Longevity of your operating equipment will reduce time, costly repairs, while potentially increasing production. FFS applies the technology in our superior products to the desalination process that will protect equipment, and significantly reduce maintenance costs.
Water Flood Treatment
With the goal in mind of maximizing the producing life of a well, producers have used various methodologies to achieve this. One of which is flooding a well with produced water in a process of secondary recovery, once this wells natural production of oil and gases has stopped. With the impurities in the production water used surfacing a significant concern, FFS has the capability of providing an engineered treatment of patented products to eliminate any increase of deposits, spores, bacteria, or corrosion issues. This has been proven to increase a wells production, long after the well was drilled and fractured.

Remediation

This treatment is performed to remediate H2S contamination of the well. Our treatment program consists of a series of products that will enhance effectiveness in the effort of eliminating H2S exposure and souring of the reservoir hydrocarbons. These products are all commonly used and will produce little to no effect on personnel.

The patented PetroChlor Chlorine Dioxide(CLO2) oxidizing biocide provides safe rapid inactivation of all microbial life found in the surface, ground, flow back, and produced water used for fracing processes.

• PetroChlor is an integrated system that produces an aqueous solution of chlorine dioxide. Chlorine Dioxide is EPA and FDA approved for use in food preparation specifically for treatment of fruits, vegetables, and meat washing, as well as for disinfection of drinking water. Approximately 15% of all bottled water in the United States is treated with CLO2. It is especially effective with sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) and acid producing bacteria (APB) and is soluble in oil and water.

• PetroChlor is extremely fast acting. This proposed in situ treatment will totally disinfect (kill) SRB and APB in seconds, as the temperature rises to approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Upon flow back, FFS personnel will be prepared to perform H2S testing coming off the treater to monitor the levels in the case of further contamination in the formation itself. This will be beneficial in the event of a formation remediation treatment to determine an effective approach.

More about our chemicals

ScaleQuest ™ is a proprietary blend of polymeric sequestrants and dispersants developed to function in high stress conditions where traditional water treatments are compromised.

ScaleQuest ™ effectively penetrates and disperses low-solubility sulfate salts, crystalline salts and particulates such as iron deposits that foul the artificial lift equipment and impede performance.

Corr-Shield ™ is a proprietary composition that provides penetrating, wetting and film forming properties that inhibit corrosion of carbon steel piping even under high stress conditions.

Both ScaleQuest ™ and Corr-Shield ™ are formulated to withstand greater than -50oF temperatures without freezing, ensuring reliable chemical feed even in the frigid winters of ND.

DeSal All-in-One combines both ScaleQuest ™ and Corr-Shield ™ in one convenient formulation to minimize chemical storage and feed equipment.

Vanquish ™ is an EPA registered biocide that provides effective control of bacteria from both source water as well as from cross contamination from fresh water storage tanks and trucks transporting water.

Vanquish ™ effectively kills bacteria at the surface, and provides residual down-hole biocidal efficacy under conditions that quickly compromise other biocides.

Frac Fluids

AccuBreak™ Liquid Gel Breaker is an innovative ready-to-use organic peroxide breaker used with patent pending “activators” that provides precision time-based gel break thereby increasing functionality, predictability, and control over a variety of temperature and pH range. It is used as a viscosity modifier in the hydraulic fracturing process, and can fundamentally change the way fracturing is done, achieving optimal clean and predictable breaks for up to three hours from 160-250°F.
Paired with a series of our patent pending activators.
We offer the ability to formulate our AccuBreak product for applications down to -35 deg. F

EZ Flow FR-80 is a very high molecular weight anionic friction reducer designed to be added “on-the-fly” to fresh water or brines.

  • EZ Flow FR-80 freeze point is less than -30°F
  • Typical loading ranges from 1⁄8 to 1⁄2 gallon per 1000 gallons
  • Addition of EZ Flow FR-80 at 0.5 gal/1000 gal maintains friction reduction of >50%, while as much as 80% reduction in friction pressures can be achieved at higher loading.

AquaFlush TR30 is a concentrated, high-performance, nonionic surfactant based product that significantly reduces surface and interfacial tension for maximum removal of spent fluids during flow back.

  • AquaFlush TR30 is also available in a Winterized Version (“W”).
  • AquaFlush TR30-W freeze point is less than -20°F
  • Typical loading ranges from 0.25 – 1.25 gpt (gallon per 1000 gallons)
  • Addition of AquaFlush TR30 at 0.5gpt reduces the surface tension to ~30 dyne/cm

MineralyteTM SI30 is a concentrated scale inhibitor for control of barium sulfate (BaSO4), calcium carbonate (CaCO3), calcium sulfate (CaSO4), strontium sulfate (SrSO4) in high TDS water.

  • Mineralyte SI30 is also available in a Winterized Version (“W”).
